Biography
Electronic musician Alan Abrahams adopts a nearly new age perspective toward house when working under the Bodycode alias, fashioning swirling melodies expressly designed to "unlock the psyche via the body." Raised in South Africa, he later relocated first to London and then to Lisbon before establishing residence in Berlin. Those successive moves inform the lush, exotic character of his output, whose polyrhythmic yet consistently melodic textures fuse tribal beats, techno bleeps, otherworldly vocal samples, and a few kitchen sinks. The Bodycode moniker first appeared in 2006 on the densely constructed debut album The Conservation of Electric Charge. After setting the name aside for three years, Abrahams revived it in 2009 with the considerably more atmospheric Immune.
