Boko Suzuki, working as a keyboardist, pianist, and composer, launched his professional path in the mid-1980s by collaborating with guitarist Joey Goldstein throughout the Toronto region and with Norwegian trombonist and composer Jens Wendelboe. Recognition arrived in 1992 after he contributed to the self-titled release from the David Blamires Group, drawing favorable attention in Jazz Report. His primary momentum developed instead within Toronto theater, where he wrote, performed, and at times led music for many productions. From that base he extended his work to additional Canadian stages, directed multiple major Broadway musicals, and appeared as a guest conductor with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. The solo album Elton John: A Piano Tribute appeared under his name in 1998. Following the arrival of the new century, Suzuki served as musical director for the American national touring production of Rent.
