Biography
Originally conceived as the solo alias of Lisandro Aloi—a musician, photographer, and architect—the Argentine indie electro-rock outfit Bonson Berner took form in the mid-2000s while Aloi toured Buenos Aires and southern Brazil with his experimental rock band Siga la Flecha. Visual media formed a core part of his creative approach from the outset, whether by integrating performance artists and photographers into stage shows or by producing music videos that reached MTV Latin America and additional outlets. After shifting his base from Argentina to Los Angeles, with sessions split between Buenos Aires and L.A., Aloi enlisted producer Guillermo Porro to shape Bonson Berner’s first release, the Joy Division-haunted Passport, which had earlier appeared under the title How Can I Be an Immigrant If I’m on My Planet. Once Porro and keyboardist/programmer Diego Cuevas entered the lineup, the resulting brooding, musing sophomore effort Reflection arrived in spring 2015 on Forty Below Records.
