Biography
Producer Boothroyd, whose complete name is Peter Boothroyd, explored a shadowy, avant-garde soundscape reminiscent of that cultivated by Forest Swords, Haxan Cloak, and Vessel. Having spent his childhood in Manchester, England, he initially pursued music creation as a remedy for ennui. Relocating to London to pursue his education prompted a more dedicated approach to his craft, as he shared compositions online that attracted the notice of Tri Angle Records, resulting in a contract signed during March 2014. The track "NYC," released that June, provided an initial indication of the demanding and rhythm-focused Idle Hours EP. Crafted and blended using inexpensive gear to achieve an intentionally warped aesthetic akin to a low-quality YouTube compression, this release emerged in September 2014.
