Biography
Boris Skalsky played in the Washington, D.C.-based outfit Phaser, contributing to its 2002 EP Life and Illusion/Sway as well as the 2003 album Sway. After Phaser disbanded, he launched a solo career under the name Dead Heart Bloom, issuing a self-titled album in 2006 and the follow-up Chelsea Diaries the next year. The project expanded into a full band by 2008, when Dead Heart Bloom issued the three EPs Fall In, In Chains, and Oh Mercy. Skalsky soon returned to working alone, digitally releasing his first “solo” EP under his own name, First Songs, through KEI Records on June 2, 2009.
