Biography
Chicago natives Josephine Foster on ukulele, guitar, and vocals and Jason Ajemian on standup bass, guitar, and vocals created the project Born Heller. The pair specializes in a stark backwoods approach to neo-traditional and transatlantic folk, shaping their material through writing, arranging, and deconstruction marked by an experimental edge both breathtaking and challenging. Foster, who also fronts the indie pop band the Children's Hour, has drawn comparisons to British folk legend Shirley Collins. Their self-titled debut was recorded by Paul Oldham in Louisville, KY, before Locust Records released it in May 2004.
