Biography
Operating from the Italic imprint among Cologne's array of strong electronic labels, the techno-pop outfit Borneo & Sporenburg moves with equal ease between refined minimal tech-house and hybrids that blend smooth soul with mid-'80s sophisti-pop. Daniel Varga, recording as Borneo, and Frank Wössner, recording as Sporenburg, both trace their roots to Zurich and Stuttgart while drawing equal influence from New Order and Mike Ink. The pair issued their first album, Remember Today, in 2002. Two singles appeared in its wake, among them "Wiedersehen," which carried heavily treated vocals supplied by the occasional collaborator Philippe. Varga and Wössner also work together behind the decks.
