Biography
Drawing from Latin bossa nova, electronic dub rhythms, and the signature noises of Atari 2600 video games, the name Bossa Nova 2600 directly evokes the quartet’s musical approach. Ryan Matheson (guitar/vocals), Bpm (bass/cello), Rob Jones (guitar/keyboards), and Don Blaker (percussion) form the core lineup, which augments its performances with glockenspiels, laptops, and assorted noisy electronic effects. The resulting style surfaced in 1999 on the Nailed to the Stars compilation and again on Chico, CA two years later, both issued by Jealous Butcher Records.
