Biography
Having emerged from her alternative rock period with the Drop Nineteens and the minor catastrophe of Hot Rod, vocalist Paula Kelley shouldered her guitar to lead Boy Wonder starting in 1995. The Boston quartet—rounded out by Josh on bass, Bruce on drums, and Aaron on guitar—adopted a brighter, ’60s-steeped bubble-gum pop approach that echoed the Beatles alongside fellow Bean Town residents Blake Babies. Boy Wonder committed that sound to record with their debut album Wonder Wear, released via Roadrunner Records in 1997. After issuing the 1999 EP Break the Spell, the band dissolved in January 2000. Kelley next launched a solo career and joined guitarist Aaron to create the Boy Joys, while Josh took over bass duties in Astroslut.
