Biography
Based in Boston, Brad San Martin performs as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, having helped establish the indie pop mini-orchestra One Happy Island with fellow musicians in 2007. Outside the United States the group earned wider notice by issuing material on respected indie pop and twee imprints such as WeePop! and Odd Box Records, appearing alongside acts including Colin Clary and the Smittens. His earliest solo outing arrived in 2009 when he issued a self-titled EP credited to Secret Charisma. After several further favorably received One Happy Island releases, San Martin launched another solo project, this time abandoning the Secret Charisma name in favor of his own. Drawing on classic pop figures such as Van Dyke Parks and Harry Nilsson, he shaped the material for his first solo album, Tell Someone, in a distinctive and agreeably ramshackle fashion before Jigsaw Records released it in late 2015. Two years afterward he returned with Shoot Tomorrow/Learn Tonight, which included contributions from Mitch Easter, Kevin Dunn, and Pete Weiss.
