Biography
Brandon Rossi, whose abilities span multiple musical disciplines, first built his reputation writing and producing tracks before inking a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and stepping forward as a performer in his own right. The 1984 native of Decatur, Georgia, just beyond Atlanta’s city limits, was raised in a household where nearly every relative served as either clergy or a performer; several cousins toured alongside Frankie Beverly & Maze. Exposure to The Wiz during first grade ignited his passion for music, while shared listening sessions with his older brother fostered an early devotion to hip-hop, particularly Outkast and the rising wave of Atlanta artists. By high school he had committed to a professional path in music rather than entering the ministry, hoping to mirror the achievements of those he admired. At Florida A&M University in Tallahassee he connected with producer Rico Love, already known for his work with Usher. After major labels passed on his initial recordings, Rossi spent time sharpening his craft by crafting material for others. A pivotal introduction to Bink Dog, whose credits include Blackstreet and Jay-Z, placed him under the veteran’s guidance and prepared him to handle production duties himself. Subsequent collaborations, including sessions with Mase, secured a publishing agreement with Roc Nation in 2013 followed by a recording contract. Intent on maintaining high standards, he delayed his own releases until the material met his expectations: “Talk About It” arrived as his first single in 2015, “Miss Me” followed in 2016, and “Look at Me” appeared in 2017. His song “I Get It” was placed in the soundtrack for the series Being Mary Jane. He also wrote, produced, and joined T.I. on “40 Acres” from the EP Us or Else and contributed guest vocals to the Hustle Gang singles “Game 7” and “Friends.”
