Biography
Brassmunk, a Canadian hip-hop crew, came together in 1997. Their initial years involved putting out numerous independent singles until Virgin stepped in with a recording contract. The lineup consisting of S-Roc, Clip, Agile, and May 19 put out their debut EP, Dark Sunrise, via 54th/Virgin during 2002. The following year saw this EP expanded into a complete album that incorporated additional early material. Critics praised Dark Sunrise, leading to a 2004 Juno Awards nomination in the Best Rap Recording category. After their debut but prior to the arrival of FEWturistic, May 19 departed the group, with Reign taking his place, and the new release appeared in 2007. This effort brought Brassmunk a second Juno nomination when the 2008 awards took place.
