Biography
Hailing from Kinston, North Carolina, Brian Hartzog blends classic rock with the funk of Prince and James Brown. Displaying early ambition, he began writing original material at age 14. Affordable technology allowed him to perform every instrument and handle production duties on his debut release, the 1995 album The Smashing of Pictures. He next concentrated on studio craft, recruiting top Charlotte, North Carolina, players to impart a stronger live energy. Grammy-winning engineer Mark Williams contributed to the sessions, and the resulting second album, One-Way Ticket, appeared in 2003.
