Born August 8, 1974, in Schenectady, New York, jazz saxophonist Brian Patneaude began his musical path on drums inside the high-school rock outfit ironically called Fusion. A shift from metalhead to jazz devotee followed after his band director exposed him to recordings by David Sanborn and Michael Brecker, prompting dedicated jazz study. He later enrolled at the College of St. Rose, completing a music-education degree in 1996. Since that time the tenor saxophonist has shared stages with an eclectic roster that includes Alex Torres y Los Reyes Latinos, the Refrigerators, Terry Gordon, and George Muscatello, while also completing graduate work at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. In 2003 he issued his first album, Variations, alongside his quartet.
