Biography
The Tharbourne sisters Nyanda and Nailah spent their childhood in Kingston, Jamaica, immersed in church music because their mother sang in the choir while their father earned his living as a professional gospel musician. Yet the pair never committed to sacred repertoire, gravitating instead toward dancehall rhythms and American R&B. Adopting the name Brick & Lace in 2006 to reflect the tough and soft facets of femininity, the duo signed with Geffen Records, which issued both their single “Get That Clear” and their debut album Love Is Wicked before the year ended.
