Biography
Andrew Wood, who handled vocals and keyboards, teamed up with bassist Keith Sigel to launch the power pop group Bridges and Powerlines in New York City during summer 2005, soon after Sigel had relocated from Chapel Hill, NC. The pair completed the lineup by bringing in drummer Pete Mucek and guitarist Jon Crockett. Initially operating under the name Sunspots, the musicians finished their debut EP, Bridges and Powerlines, in March 2006 only to learn that another act already used the name and held its trademark. This discovery led them to adopt Bridges and Powerlines instead. The band then issued the EP independently on September 26, 2006.
