Biography
Kelly Pratt, the sought-after brass and wind instrumentalist whose résumé includes performances with Coldplay, LCD Soundsystem, and Beirut, unveiled Bright Moments as his own solo outlet. He had earlier fronted Team B, yet the grind of constant touring confined his production work to laptop sketches captured in hotel rooms during off-hours. Seeking the freedom to develop material at his preferred speed and beyond the interruptions of life on the road, Pratt launched Bright Moments and began laying down tracks one by one in his Brooklyn apartment by the winter of 2010. He later brought in musician acquaintances tied to Beirut, Akoya Afrobeat, and Spoon to expand the arrangements and share production responsibilities. The outcome was Natives, an expansive album that wove together the breadth of his prior musical experience and reached listeners via the Luaka Bop label in February 2012.
