Biography
Contemporary singer/songwriter Brittney Elizabeth first turned to songwriting at age 17, drawing balanced influence from the Ataris’ pop-punk textures, Vanessa Carlton’s melodic craftsmanship, and Patti Smith’s unfiltered personal narratives. Although Pennsylvania was her birthplace, she moved to Arizona early in life and promptly began formal training in voice, guitar, and acting. Throughout high school her private journal reflections gradually took shape as structured verse and complete songs, most of them chronicling the peaks and valleys of a long-term romance. One of those pieces earned her the Best Song Award from the West Coast Songwriters panel in spring 2006, prompting a relocation to Los Angeles to focus on her music full-time. Independent label Desert Sunrise Records recognized both her commercial appeal and her distinctive look, resulting in the release of her debut album, Breathe In, during fall 2007.
