Biography
Detroit-based all-female heavy rock trio Broadzilla features lead vocalist and guitarist Rachel May, bassist and vocalist Kim Essiambre, and drummer Angie Manley. The group first committed its high-voltage sound to tape in 1999 with the release of debut album Broadzilla Vs. the Tramp-O-Lean on Phat Sack Records. That effort quickly built a devoted regional following throughout the Midwest, which in turn led to live bills alongside L7, the Deftones, Skid Row, and the Goo Goo Dolls. Recognition arrived in April 2001 when the band claimed the Best Hard Rock honor at the Detroit Music Awards. Later that year the members returned to the studio for their second album, Lady Luck, and in April 2002 they again received Detroit Music Awards acclaim, this time for Outstanding Hard Rock Metal Performance.
