Biography
Brothers Past came together in Philadelphia during 2000, when Tom Hamilton on vocals and guitar joined forces with Tom McKee handling keyboards and vocals, Clay Parnell on bass and vocals, and Rick Lowenberg behind the drums. The quartet blended jam-band traditions with electronic flourishes layered over progressive-rock foundations. Its first album, Elements, appeared as a self-released project in December 2001; the accompanying press biography called it “an experimental studio album mixing live recordings with computer sequences to produce an altogether new sonic tapestry.” December 2002 brought A Wonderful Day, characterized as “a concept album about insomnia and paranoia.” The EP statEPolice arrived in September 2004. While cultivating a nationwide audience, the group spent nearly twelve months shaping its next full-length release alongside producer Jon Altschiller, whose prior credits include work with Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Phish, and Lenny Kravitz. The resulting record, This Feeling's Called Goodbye, first surfaced under the band’s own imprint before SCI Fidelity Records acquired it and issued the official edition on October 18, 2005, coinciding with a club-and-theater trek across the United States that stretched from September through December.
