Bruses serves as the performing alias for Amalia Ramirez, a Mexican indie-pop singer-songwriter who entered the world in Tijuana during 1998. Songwriting became her outlet for navigating depression and anxiety once she reached her early teens. At the age of eighteen she relocated to Mexico City, enrolling at Centro Universitario Fermatta to pursue formal music studies. By roughly 2019 she had begun posting initial tracks and clips across TikTok and additional platforms, steadily building an audience drawn to her blend of lo-fi textures, electronica, and rock alongside lyrics that turn inward, clearly nodding to Billie Eilish. Her breakthrough arrived in 2021 via the single “Dueles Tan Bien,” which later appeared on the debut album Monstruos (2022) and secured a Latin Grammy nomination. That visibility prompted joint projects with fellow artists such as Mon Laferte, Paty Cantú, and Kenia Os. The EP Cuando Ella Me Besó followed in 2023.
