Biography
In 1969, organist and vocalist Walter Zwolinsky—also known as Zwol—launched Brutus in Toronto. The roster later expanded to incorporate guitarist Sonny Wingay, bassist Sandy White, drummer Len Sembaluk, Bruce Gordon on trumpet, organ, guitar, and bass, and Bill Robb on saxophone and trombone. Once two early singles appeared, the band secured a contract with GRT and issued its self-titled debut album in 1975. The group dissolved soon afterward, yet Zwol launched a solo career in the late ’70s and eventually assembled the band Rage.
