Biography
The indie rock quartet Buckfast Superbee from San Diego came together in 1997 when guitarist Nick Keyser and drummer Matt Burlile ran an ad in a local weekly in search of a singer and bassist. They encountered guitarist TJ instead, who didn't fit either role, yet the band compelled him to take on lead vocals despite his hesitation. After claiming victory in the Rumble '97 local band competition, the quartet received 40 hours of complimentary studio time, which they used to lay down their self-titled debut LP in 1998. Bassist Kevin Stram came aboard before the release of Star 1/2 in 2000, with You Know How the Song Goes appearing the following year.
