Biography
Simon Begg, who also records under aliases such as Cabbageboy, Si Begg, and Bigfoot, channels an energetic, dancefloor-ready fusion of techno and electro through his Buckfunk 3000 project. After signing to Tony Thorpe's Language label, the Buckfunk 3000 project issued a trio of singles on Language in 1997 and then delivered First Class Ticket to Telos, his debut LP, in 1998. Whereas the prior singles, above all "PlanetSchockFutureRock", displayed a markedly stronger old-school electro flavor, Telos stays firmly within the weird techno vein by pairing straightforward rhythms with off-kilter sounds and bizarre structural non sequiturs that shatter techno's classic conservatism. Begg also owns and operates the Noodles label, co-runs the Mosquito imprint with Cristian Vogel, and has supplied remixes for artists including Sven Vath, Mute, and Sluts'n'Strings & 909.
