Biography
Formed in Swansea, south Wales, during 2010, Buffalo Summer brought together brothers Gareth Hunt on drums and Andrew Hunt on vocals with guitarist Jonny Williams and bassist Darren King. The quartet began by improvising over blues standards and only later turned to writing original songs. Their debut album, Buffalo Summer, surfaced in 2011 after an initial self-release phase and subsequent pickup by Cargo Records. The release drew widespread attention and critical praise while echoing the sound of classic rock acts such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Buoyed by that response, the band landed support slots with Ugly Kid Joe, Duff McKagan, and Skid Row and performed at major events including Download. Barrett Martin, whose résumé includes work with Screaming Trees and Queens of the Stone Age, produced the 2016 follow-up Second Sun.
