Biography
Emerging from Dublin, the rock outfit Buffalo Sunn fuses opulent vocal harmonies with intricate guitar-driven pop, uniting vintage 1960s sounds and contemporary independent sensibilities. The group took shape in 2013, pulling its members from Sweet Jane and coalescing around singer/songwriter Daniel Paxton, his brother Conor Paxton on bass and pedal steel, guitarist Patrick McHugh, keyboardist Jimmy Cullen, and drummer Donagh O’Brien. Neil Paxton later stepped in to replace Cullen on keyboards. Teaming with producer Pat McCarthy (R.E.M., the Waterboys, U2), Buffalo Sunn captured its debut album, By the Ocean by the Sea, in 2014 for the Irish label Reekus Records.
