Feedback-sculpting noise terrorists Burmese emerged from San Francisco as a quartet of four members who answer to just two names—Mike G, Mark S, Mike G, and Mark S, damn glad to meet ya. The mysterious noise collective launched its recorded existence with the 1998 debut Burmese Is Dead, then proceeded to cycle through drummers while assaulting listeners via intermittent outings on assorted independent imprints, among them the 2000 self-titled Burmese and 2004’s Split, which also spotlighted Ohio sludge mongers Fistula.
