Bushwhack

Originating from Connecticut, the four-piece outfit Bushwhack, whose name suggests rural wilderness, channels its focus into a polished blend of approachable prog rock and metal. Keyboardist Frank Sacramone, along with drummer Ben Shanbron and guitarist Jamie van Dyck, established the group in 2005; bassist Sean McCusker joined later, paving the way for their self-titled, largely instrumental first full-length record in 2007. The recording displayed pronounced echoes of Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, and Dream Theater, elements that grew even more prominent in the follow-up Canvas EP from 2009, where Shanbron handled primary vocals and van Dyck provided support.
