Biography
Emerging from Falkenberg, Sweden, By Night took shape in 1999, refining their approach across multiple years and a string of demos until Close Up magazine crowned them “Sweden’s Best Unsigned Band.” In 2004 the band cut a split CD alongside Cipher System and inked a deal with Lifeforce Records, the label that subsequently issued their debut full-length Burn the Flags in 2005 and the follow-up A New Shape of Desperation in 2006. Both records spotlight the group’s singular hybrid—mechanized, nearly industrial metalcore blended with post-thrash and faint echoes of Meshuggah, Fear Factory, and the Haunted—delivered by Adrian Westin on vocals, Andre Gonzales and Henrik Persson on guitar, Marcus Wesslen on bass, and Per Qvarnstrom on drums.
