Robert Geiger initiated his recording endeavors in 1989 when he adapted a pair of poems written by his brother into a gothic-rock musical setting. Three years afterward, he made his first stage appearances performing solo as Bytet, delivering a techno- and industrial-oriented sound at coffee houses and warehouses throughout Anchorage, AK. Later in 1992, a six-track demo tape together with a contribution to the Alaska Alternative compilation strengthened his standing among local listeners. Bytet’s debut full-length release, the 1993 album First Bite, brought percussionist Kris Rosentrater into the fold, and he remained for live performances over the following two years. The Eye Catcher and Blood & Computers II The Return of the Cyberpunks appeared next. In 1995 keyboardist Mike Miller took over for Rosentrater, after which Bytet issued Elektro-Industrial Sounds of the Northwest and Bytet Music.
