C-kan

Born José Luis Maldonado in Guadalajara in 1987, C-Kan rose as a Mexican rapper whose early exposure to Cypress Hill and Control Machete prompted him to begin rapping as a teenager with stark stories drawn from his own encounters involving gangs, drugs, and violence. His initial mixtape Get Money surfaced in 2006 and was followed by Siluetas del Rap the next year. Exposure grew through YouTube music videos and guest spots on Mexican news programs, where he voiced a personal obligation to confront social problems in his lyrics so listeners might gain awareness and pursue remedies. Mastered Trax Latino issued the full-length Voy por el Sueño de Muchos in 2012. Clasificación C appeared in 2014 and was followed by Clasificación C, Vol. 2 in 2015. During 2016 he contributed to the Compadres movie soundtrack while also releasing the album Antes de Todo, Vol. 1.
