Biography
Helena Sundin, born Helena Elisabeth Sundin on December 4, 1981, in Härnösand, Sweden, records under the project name Cake on Cake. In addition to her painting practice, the classically trained musician—who commands dozens of instruments and handles vocals—launched Cake on Cake in June 2004 during enrollment at the Academy of Fine Arts in Umeå, Sweden. Desolation Records, the American independent label, issued the debut album I See No Stars in 2005; France’s Rain Music followed with the digital-only EP Sun-Chairs in 2006. Desolation then delivered the second album, I Guess I Was Daydreaming, on February 13, 2007. For live appearances, Sundin recruited bassist Andreas Gabrielsson and Kristina Sundin on metallophone and vocals. The digital-only remix collection No Holiday Place surfaced later that year. Sleepy Records released the third album, Hymns I Remember, on November 18, 2008.
