Calvarium

Calvarium emerged from Finland as a black metal endeavor whose uncompromising allegiance to a profane cause requires strict adherence to Satanic doctrine across its most sinister expressions, along with the obligatory adoption of corpse-paint, leather, spikes, and bullet belts. Veilroth—also known as Behezen and formerly of Alghazanth—handled guitar and bass while Lord Sargofagian, previously active in Baptism and Satanic Warmaster among other acts, played drums; together they established the project and captured the “Dungeons of Hate” demos during 2001. Another established figure from the regional underground, Molestor Kadotus of Anal Blasphemy and Trotzreich, soon completed the lineup by taking on vocal duties. With the roster finalized, the three members persisted in generating additional demo recordings until they had assembled sufficient material for a full-length release titled The Skull of Golgotha, which appeared in early 2004 via the independent Dynamic Arts Records imprint.
