Biography
London-based experimental electronic duo Camila Fuchs weave Krautrock, trip-hop, and left-field techno into their sound while anchoring the arrangements with fragile, haunting vocals. Early in the 2010s the pair began performing at festivals, then issued their first recording, Singing from Fixed Rung, in 2016. The follow-up effort Kids Talk Sun, arriving in 2020, shifted focus toward the interplay of space and sound.
Camila de Laborde, handling vocals and keys, and Daniel Hermann-Collini, on synths and drums, had each been developing separate work in their home countries of Mexico and Germany before relocating to London. They first connected as students at Goldsmiths University, drawn together by shared ideas about music’s link to aesthetics. Initial experiments ran entirely through laptops until the pair adopted an analog modular system that shaped the writing and recording of their 2016 debut. In 2017, through their close ties with SVS Records, they joined a residency at Budapest’s Spatial Sound Institute and worked with its 4DSound System, an experience centered on spatial audio that directly guided material for the next release. Heart Pressed Between Stones, the resulting sophomore album, appeared on ATP Recordings in 2018. For their third LP the duo tracked with Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 at his Lisbon-area studio, yielding the abstract psychedelia of Kids Talk Sun, issued by Felte in 2020.
