Los Angeles is where Camille Davila first entered the world, though her childhood unfolded across multiple locations along the West Coast. A gig in San Francisco toward the close of the 1990s brought her into contact with Luc LeDuc, who handled production duties on her debut album Not for the Disco while also co-writing a single track, crafting its artwork, and issuing the project in late 2000 as the second release on his Below Recordings imprint. After the record appeared, Davila dismissed her supporting musicians and relocated to Liverpool, England, the base from which she later put out World of Gliding Monsters.
