Biography
After leaving the Esquires, six of its former members began a steady hotel engagement that prompted an invitation to cut a single for Tonsil Records. Their “Higher and Higher” achieved major success throughout Canada in 1970, yet vocalists Barbra Bullard and John Matthews, lead guitarist Gary Comeau, guitarist Paul Huot, bassist Wayne Leslie, and drummer Richard Patterson elected to disband instead of resigning from their daytime work. Guitarist Lock McFadden, pianist Daryl Wadsworth, vocalist Valerie Tucker, and bassist Rick Lemieux also passed through the ranks. Wadsworth soon launched a fresh outfit called Canada Goose, although the venture dissolved rapidly.
