Cano Estremera

Born Carlos Enrique Estremera Columbus on September 2, 1958, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, salsa bandleader and vocalist Cano Estremera acquired the alternate names White Estremera and “the White One” on account of his albinism. His affinity for music surfaced in childhood via school performances of religious hymns, which in time opened the door to a collaboration with renowned bassist and trumpeter Bobby Valentin beginning in 1978. The partnership yielded six albums before Estremera embarked on an independent path in 1984. Numerous solo projects appeared thereafter, among them Salvaje ’88, El Nino De Oro, Punto Y Aparte, and Dueno Del Soneo: Vol. 1.
