Biography
In 1970 a five-piece outfit calling itself Capitolo 6 assembled in Rome and cut its first disc, the English-language single “Cool Jerk” backed with “Please Please Please,” for Atco. The next year the group moved to It and placed “M’innamoro di te”/“L’amavamo in tre” on the market just ahead of a warmly received appearance at the Viareggio Festival. Early in 1972 the quartet—now reduced to Riccardo Bortolotti on vocals and flute, Antonio Favilla on keyboards, Maurizio Romani on bass, and Giovanni Galli on drums—issued its debut album Frutti per Kagua. Lacking a guitarist, the lineup nevertheless produced an impressive set whose lengthy title track proved especially bold, while the short “Il Grande Sirito” from side two was extracted as a single whose flip, “Sole di Notte,” was a strong out-take from the same sessions. Despite the strong start, Capitolo 6 dissolved before a second album could appear, splitting at the close of 1972.
