Biography
Renowned for his standing as a sambista and pianist, Careca composed a wide array of songs, several of which achieved notable success. Among them stand the 1922 Carnival hit “Ai, Seu Mé,” written with Freire Júnior; the number lampooned Republic president Artur Bernardes and created difficulties for both men, along with “Chuva Não Mata Ninguém,” “Teresa,” “Mulata, Sai Do Portão,” “Mordedor,” “Não Dou Confiança,” “Foi Ela Que Nos Deixou,” “Na Favela Tem Valente,” “Cresça e Apareça,” and “Ela Disse Uma Vez Pra Mim.”
