Carlotta Dale stood out among the standout voices of the early big band period. Her entry into professional music occurred in 1938 through work with Jess Stacy and his swinging ensemble. The next year brought employment with Will Bradley, yielding recordings of the knotty "Fit to Be Tied" and the hurried "Gotta Get Home." Prominence followed in the Savitt outfit, where her beautiful voice and deep sincerity joined forces with the equally talented vocalist Bon Bon to produce an exceptional stage presentation. A car accident took place while Savitt was driving, yet she recovered over time. She subsequently joined the Will Bradley band and retired in the 1940s. Listeners drawn to singers such as Mildred Bailey and Kay Starr are likely to respond favorably to Dale.
