Biography
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Carmen Rasmusen entered the world on March 25, 1985, in Edmonton, Canada, before her childhood unfolded in Bountiful, Utah. Dance and piano instruction began early in her life, with vocal lessons added once she reached age thirteen. Shortly before turning eighteen, she entered the second season of American Idol in 2003 as a wild-card contestant. Although she placed sixth, Rasmusen moved forward without hesitation, issuing the EP Carmen the next year, traveling nationwide alongside the full American Idol touring ensemble, and taking on minor acting roles. She continued to prioritize music above all else, and after aligning with the independent country imprint Lofton Creek Records, she delivered her first full-length album, Nothin' Like the Summer, in August 2007.
