Biography
Singer/songwriter Carol Lipnik roamed the familiar trails of Coney Island throughout her childhood, lost in fantasies of a future devoted to music. With the fading of its amusement parks, her fanciful notions of R&B, voodoo, and blues began to crystallize, prompting her to begin composing songs.
During her young adult years she shaped a distinctive style that merged sweetness with raw texture. Alongside her band Spookarama she issued the debut album My Life as a Singing Mermaid before the turn of the millennium. The group’s rich Delta blues intensity made a striking impression. In 2002 Lipnik and Spookarama released Hope Street.
