Biography
Caroline Halcrow entered the world under that name and performed with Blue Aeroplanes as Trettine before exiting the band in 1987. She then pursued an independent path as an acoustic guitar-playing singer-songwriter whose approach echoed Joni Mitchell while aligning with the style of contemporary Tanita Tikaram. The haunting, melancholic character of pieces such as ‘Sleep With Me’ and ‘Guilty, Imagination And Turning’ represented her primary strength. She joined Billy Bragg’s reactivated Utility label and cut one mini-album supported by Nick Jacobs on electric guitar, Ian Kearey on electric and acoustic guitar, and Tone Bank on drums. Her subsequent London concerts attracted substantial critical praise that remains unexploited.
