Having been raised in Concord, Massachusetts, Carolyn Currie nurtured her passions for singing, songwriting, and guitar during her college and graduate studies. After making her home in Seattle, Washington, she issued her debut recording, No Heroes, on her own in 1995. The project paved the way for performances and writing opportunities at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, the Napa Valley Folk Festival, and the BMI Songwriter's Showcase. Standing Stones, her second album, appeared in late 1998. Shortly after relocating from Seattle to Maine, she released her third album, Kiss of Ghosts, via Etherean on August 3, 2004; the record secured appearances at the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, was named among Performing Songwriter magazine's top independent releases of the year, and received the People's Choice Award at the new age trade show INATS East. Currie then joined the Nashville-based independent label High Horse Records, which brought out her fourth album, Waves of Silence, in April 2009.
