Carolyn Malachi

Carolyn Malachi crafts R&B that draws from pop, soul, and jazz while carrying a poetic, avant-garde sensibility. Born in Washington, D.C., she is the great-granddaughter of jazz pianist John Malachi and encountered an array of musical styles while growing up. Her move to Baltimore placed her on the singer/songwriter club circuit for regular performances. Her debut solo album, Revenge of the Smart Chicks II: Ambitious Gods, appeared in 2009. The EP Lions, Fires & Squares arrived the next year. In 2010 the song "Orion" from Lions, Fires & Squares received a Grammy Award nomination.
