Blues rocker Bob "Catfish" Hodge entered the world in Detroit and grew up there, routinely slipping into Motown Records' Hitsville studio during his teenage years to observe recording sessions by the Four Tops, the Supremes and additional acts. Toward the close of the 1960s he assembled the group Catfish, which released its first album, Get Down, in 1970. The following year brought Live Catfish, after which Hodge launched his solo path via the 1973 LP Boogie Man I Gonna Get Ya, moved to Washington D.C. and began appearing regularly as an opener for performers such as Bonnie Raitt and Little Feat. A string of further solo albums appeared, among them Dinosaurs and Alleycats in 1974, Sop Operas in 1975 and Eyewitness Blues in 1979. In the early 1980s he joined the Chicken Legs Band on the road, shifted his base to California in 1982 and eventually formed the Bluesbusters alongside former Little Feat guitarist Paul Barrere. Following an extended break from recording, Hodge re-emerged in 1994 with Catfish Blues; Like a Big Dog Barkin' arrived the next year, and Adventures at Catfish Pond surfaced in 1996.
