Biography
Originating from the Bronx in New York, Cathy Carr achieved success through her interpretation of “Ivory Tower.” Attempting to replicate that achievement, she recorded a version of Phil Spector’s composition “To Know Him Is to Love Him” for Roulette during 1958. Despite her efforts, the recording did not reach the charts and received little attention compared to the Teddy Bears’ rendition. The year 1959 saw Roulette issuing her sole album with the company, titled Shy, which included the tracks “I’m Nobody’s Baby” along with “So Near and Yet So Far.” Eventually, her single “My Favorite Song” appeared on a Laurie Records collection known as The Golden Girls Sing Their Golden Hits of the 1950s and 1960s, Vol. 2.
