Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer launched their partnership as a children's duo with joint recordings in the closing years of the 1980s. Their immediate fusion of folk, blues, bluegrass, and pop, paired with inventive, perceptive, and respectful lyrics, quickly earned critical praise alongside a dedicated audience. The lullaby collection Blanket Full of Dreams from 1997 collected honors from the American Library Association together with outlets such as Parent's Choice and Early Childhood News while also earning a Grammy Award nomination. Pillow Full of Wishes, issued by Fink & Marxer in 2000, assembled further songs and stories for bedtime. Early 2001 brought All Wound Up! A Family Music Party. The following year saw the appearance of the lively, enchanted songbook Pocket Full of Stardust, which centered on themes of rest and dreams. In 2003 Fink & Marxer turned to the subject of food with Bon Appétit! Musical Food Fun, delivering an upbeat adventure for young listeners. Scat Like That: A Musical Word Odyssey arrived in 2005 as another buoyant project filled with a lively mix of musical styles. Banjo to Beatbox came from the duo in 2009 and featured special guest Christylez Bacon.
