Biography
A Pennsylvania rock & roll outfit fronted by three siblings, Ceramic Animal established a distinctive and resolutely self-reliant profile during the second half of the 2010s. Rooted in the modest borough of Doylestown north of Philadelphia, the band blended psych-rock, glam, retro '70s-inspired pop, and punk to achieve nationwide recognition via its second full-length, 2018's The Horse. After cultivating a broad following across three self-released and self-produced albums, the group aligned with Easy Eye Sound and collaborated with founder Dan Auerbach on 2022's Sweet Unknown.
In 2013, siblings Chris on vocals and guitar, Elliott on vocals and keyboards, and Erik Regan on drums joined forces with Doylestown natives Anthony Marchione on guitar and Dallas Hosey on vocals and bass. They began by performing classic rock covers before accumulating a catalog of original songs. Their growing reputation for polished, stylistically diverse rock & roll was reinforced by coordinated stage attire in matching suits and an intense live presentation. Following the release of their debut, 2016's The Cart, Ceramic Animal opted to remain in Doylestown rather than pursue a major East Coast relocation for label interest. Treating their hometown as a touring base, they again handled production themselves on 2018's The Horse, which broadened their sound and expanded their reach. West Coast appearances alongside robust streaming activity further enlarged their audience ahead of 2020's High End. After substantial independent accomplishments, the band transitioned to a fitting label partnership, enlisting the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach to produce their fourth album, Sweet Unknown, issued in early 2022 on Easy Eye.
