Biography
Justin Mroz, handling vocals and guitar, joined forces with bassist and vocalist Lance Stewart to launch Certain Distant Suns during 1989 inside a northern Chicago suburb. Mroz brought in his cousin Jared on drums and soon expanded the lineup with guitarist Dan Zigmund plus guitarist/vocalist Kerry Finerty. Embracing a dance-rock approach marked by swirling guitars, the group performed regularly throughout Chicago and issued its own Huge EP in 1992 at the height of its rising local profile. Dogrocket, a second EP, appeared the following year. Both recordings later appeared together on the 1994 compilation Happy on the Inside.
